WoW Transmog: Is it just me, or does “Transmog Blog” sound kind of weird?

Back when I was a major presence in my server’s transmog market, my favourite customers were the ones unsure of what they wanted. It seems a little counter-intuitive, because checking the Auction House occasionally for World Drop - Includes Zone-Specific Drops Auction House - Click Here For Undermine Journal Jade Legplates is considerably less work than designing a look from scratch, but it gave me the chance to delve into the tantalizing and somewhat frustrating world of BoP gear, a place your average transmog vendor doesn’t often tread.

And hey, it was a refreshing break from the near constant litany of “I’ll give you 30g for that 7,500g chestplate p.s. you suck!” So there’s that.

Though I rarely made money on these personalized outfits (unfortunately, I’ve yet to find a way to charge people for the privilege of running Blackwing Lair over and over again until Raid Drop - Boss Loot or Raid Trash Drop Judgement Spaulders drops), they were often the highlight of my former career.

Though, okay, the gold was good too.

I’m out of the business now (many things are fun — relisting hundreds upon hundreds of non-stackable items every day is not one of them), but it occurred to me recently that I could still do what I love without the hassle of finding actual players to please.

So, uh, welcome to the Devil Wears Transmog, my transmog blog.

How Things Work

Unless I’ve stated otherwise, every transmog outfit I post has been compiled by me and generated using the Wowhead “View in 3D” tool. If you’re interested in tier gear and other established in-game sets, I recommend checking out Wowhead’s Transmog Sets section.

From a navigation point-of-view, postings can be browsed by Armor Type and Class using the drop-down menus above.

The most important thing to mention is the colour-coded buttons you’ll notice tacked in front of every piece of gear mentioned on this website. These buttons tell you at a glance how an item can be acquired. Obviously, there’s a difference in difficulty between Molten Core and Throne of Thunder, but the idea is to give players a very rough sense of how difficult an outfit is to make.

Raid Drop - Boss Loot or Raid Trash Drop Raid Drop – Boss Loot or Raid Trash Drop

Dungeon Drop - Boss Loot or Dungeon Trash Drop Dungeon Drop – Boss Loot or Dungeon Trash Drop

Crafted Item Crafted Item

World Drop - Includes Zone-Specific Drops World Drop – Includes Zone-Specific Drops

Quest Reward Quest Reward

Vendor - Justice Points Vendor – Justice Points (There are equivalent buttons for gold and honor points)

Black Market Auction House Black Market Auction House

Auction House - Click Here For Undermine Journal Auction House (The item is a BoE)

If you can’t remember what a button means, mouse over the dot. The summary text will explain everything.

But my favourite of these buttons is the Auction House - Click Here For Undermine Journal (Auction House) button. It links directly to the item’s page on the Undermine Journal, allowing you to check if the item is available for purchase on your server.

I’m new to this whole “blogging” concept, so if you have any suggestions or feedback, let me know in the comments!

  1. Yay I found your bloggy! Transmog blog does sound weird, so use the cuter version: Mog-blog xD
I’m just stopping by to give awesome feedback, just scrolled through your site and I’m enjoying every post 🙂
I absolutely LOVE the idea of the little buttons before the name of the item, that’s just amazing and very helpful.
Keep up the good work and keep in touch! Adding your blog to my faves!

    • Aw, thank you! You’re far too kind to me. I’m glad you’re finding the buttons useful. I know my main frustration a lot of the time is looking at a set and not appreciating how tough it’s going to be to make at the outset. But then, the Raid button covers both old content and the current raiding tier…

Hmm. Maybe they need to be colour-coded?

      I make things too complicated.

Er, this is a long way of saying, “Thanks for stopping by!” 😀
