Because #DeathKnightWeek Runs on DWT Time

Part of Lae’s Alt Appreciation series.

And the Devil Wears Transmog runs on Blizzard’s Tuesday maintenance schedule so, uh, I’m not late. For another five hours.

Prior the announcement of #DeathKnightWeek, I didn’t have a Death Knight. Well, that’s not true. I had lots of Death Knights, deleted, abandoned or dead on other servers. This is what happens when you’re the sort of person who regularly bumps up against the 50 character account limit.

But I wanted a Death Knight I’d actually play, so I sauntered over to one of my less populated servers and rolled Mortuary.

For all my love of transmog, I like the DK starting zone gear enough I’ll probably leave her like this ’til 90.

Likes: piña coladas, long walks on the beach, and posing dramatically in front of large, glowing objects.

A touching moment between mount and rider in the shadow of a Havenshire outhouse.

He’s kind of cute. You know, for a twelve-foot tall force of pure evil.

But it wouldn’t be a Devil Wears Transmog post without some ill-conceived fashion suggestions, so away we go!

You’ll notice this round looks a little different. This time, I’ve turned to MogIt and, frankly, the results are great enough that I think I’ll be using MogIt exclusively from now on.

Okay, so an argument could be made that those boots don’t really work, but I don’t care. They’re gorgeous and look heavy enough to smash a man’s face in, both important qualities for any fashionable Death Knight. That said, none of these pieces are locked to a particular class or faction, so have fun!

Okay, so maybe this transmog isn’t breaking any new ground, but I think the blue in the belt with the blue in her eyes makes this a solid alternative to a Death Knight’s usual parade of skulls and spikes. Again, there’s nothing here that’s locked to a particular class, but those axes — in that color, anyway — are only available for Alliance players.

Next up, #DruidWeek! Bring on the… uh, worgen.

I swear I’m a Hordie. I swear.

  1. I figured since maintenance is Tuesday in US and Wednesday in Europe, the standard week of Monday to Sunday was safe. Of course I didn’t consider that the week doesn’t actually start on Monday all over the world either, so there’s that… Anyway, I don’t mind the weeks being extended on either side of the week I intended. 🙂

    Love the yellow mog!

  2. I think the spirit of the week was seven-ish days or so. Give or take a couple days. :p

Frankly, I think if you have your DK ready now, as you do, flaunt her. As long as you are enjoying it, keep it up. I put Hâtter up on Monday just because I could, along with the druids who had come by for a spell.

Both sets are wonderful, but if I had to chose just one, I’d go with the Exalted Harness one, as well. Thank you for sharing your sets and coming to the MogIt side. :p

    • MogIt’s such an incredible add-on. I’ve always been a bit stuck in my ways. I’ve used Wowhead for almost everything, largely because I spend a lot more time thinking about WoW then I have ready access to the game itself.

But Wowhead’s renders are so awful and MogIt looks so good…

Yeah, sorry Wowhead. You lose this round.

As for druids and DKs, I hope to be more prompt with this week’s assignment. One more thing to add to my massive WoW to-do list. 😉

  3. Oh. My. Goodness. I just hovered over one of your identifier images with the pop up tips. Color coded and everything! That is a really cool idea and it keeps the clutter down.

It is your creation, but I would like to imitate it. Would you be okay me using your idea on my website? I’ve been putting drop descriptions for everything, which is messy… :p

    • Please, go right ahead!

My big problem with transmog sets is conveying to others — heck, conveying to me — how hard they are to assemble, given that different players are challenged by different aspects of the game. The button system was an effort to give people a very rough sense of that information at a glance.

I think it works. Sort of, in that I think I’m the only person who knows what they mean. 😛

But yeah, take the buttons concept! I’ll be interested to see how you handle it!

      • It’ll take some work drawing the buttons and such, but the concept is quite cool. For now, I think I’m just going to move things around a bit. It is mostly for the sake of my mobile site, which clutters up on a narrow screen.

Thanks again for your help. :p
