Here’s the full set on Wowhead.

World of Warcraft has a lot of different races with a lot of different body types but, for whatever reason most of the time fan-made transmog sets are designed for use on blood elves, night elves, humans and (female) draenei.

(I know, I know, it’s a mystery wrapped in an enigma.)

But, in any event, when somebody posted on MMO Champion looking for ideas for his male pandaren warrior, I was stumped. My existing sets were all built with a female blood elf base; on a male pandaren, the proportions were all wrong.

So I sat down and came up with this. Unfortunately, the helm (which is a big part of what makes the set so great) is only available to Horde toons. It also isn’t hugely original; as you can see, it’s just two existing sets stitched together.

I will say, in my opinion, this doesn’t work on the taller races. The belt seam is a lot more visible (if anyone’s got ideas re: belt substitutions, I’m all ears), for one thing, and the proportions are distorted. But on a pandaren (especially the female pandaren, they’re so cute), they look pretty darn snazzy.

Uh, in an, “I’ll tear out your jugular with my teeth” sort of way.

Because #DeathKnightWeek Runs on DWT Time

Part of Lae’s Alt Appreciation series.

And the Devil Wears Transmog runs on Blizzard’s Tuesday maintenance schedule so, uh, I’m not late. For another five hours.

Prior the announcement of #DeathKnightWeek, I didn’t have a Death Knight. Well, that’s not true. I had lots of Death Knights, deleted, abandoned or dead on other servers. This is what happens when you’re the sort of person who regularly bumps up against the 50 character account limit.

But I wanted a Death Knight I’d actually play, so I sauntered over to one of my less populated servers and rolled Mortuary.

mortuary_pose

For all my love of transmog, I like the DK starting zone gear enough I’ll probably leave her like this ’til 90.

Likes: piña coladas, long walks on the beach, and posing dramatically in front of large, glowing objects.

mortuary_mount

A touching moment between mount and rider in the shadow of a Havenshire outhouse.

He’s kind of cute. You know, for a twelve-foot tall force of pure evil.

But it wouldn’t be a Devil Wears Transmog post without some ill-conceived fashion suggestions, so away we go!

You’ll notice this round looks a little different. This time, I’ve turned to MogIt and, frankly, the results are great enough that I think I’ll be using MogIt exclusively from now on.

Okay, so an argument could be made that those boots don’t really work, but I don’t care. They’re gorgeous and look heavy enough to smash a man’s face in, both important qualities for any fashionable Death Knight. That said, none of these pieces are locked to a particular class or faction, so have fun!

Okay, so maybe this transmog isn’t breaking any new ground, but I think the blue in the belt with the blue in her eyes makes this a solid alternative to a Death Knight’s usual parade of skulls and spikes. Again, there’s nothing here that’s locked to a particular class, but those axes — in that color, anyway — are only available for Alliance players.

Next up, #DruidWeek! Bring on the… uh, worgen.

I swear I’m a Hordie. I swear.

Plate Transmog: Red Face

Plate Transmog: Red Face (Orc)

Female toons, you’re going to want to preview this breastplate before committing to it. Your tolerance for eye-breasts will probably vary.

This set was intended to have more of a Death Knight bent to it, as was probably evident from the blood-drenched skulls motif, but none of the pieces have class-based limitations.

That said, unfortunately, Raid Drop - Boss Loot or Raid Trash Drop Edge of Agony is a Horde-only weapon. Should you faction-change to Alliance, you’ll find yourself holding Raid Drop - Boss Loot or Raid Trash Drop Reckoning instead.

Cloth Transmog: Firebird

Firebird - Female Blood Elf (available to all cloth-wearers)

“Firebird,” a.k.a. I shouldn’t be allowed to name things, ever.

This gorgeous robe is, in my opinion, the sexiest red (okay, okay, the case could be made for blood orange) dress in the game. Unfortunately, it’s also incredibly rare, so if you’re at all interested and you see a World Drop - Includes Zone-Specific Drops Auction House - Click Here For Undermine Journal Sanguine Robe for sale on your server for a reasonable price, buy it. You’ll thank me later.

Your guess is as good as mine as to why the Wowhead page for Raid Drop - Boss Loot or Raid Trash Drop Einhorn’s Galoshes displays 21 pairs of gloves under the “Same Model As” tab.

Cloth Transmog: Blood Priest

Blood Priest Look - Worgen Male (available to all cloth-wearers)

For those days when you feel like slapping a couple of enormous red snake heads on your shoulders.

Here’s the full set on Wowhead.

I can hear Project Runway’s Nina Garcia side-eying my taste levels from here. I appreciate red and green aren’t generally considered a winning combination (outside of Christmas and bad motel carpeting, anyway), but the moment I clapped eyes on Mantle of Three Terrors I knew there had to be some way to make them work.

And they do. Uh, I think.

Oh, and to all you female orcs and goblins out there, depending on your skin tone you’re going to want to, uh, give this one a miss. Just… trust me on this.

Notes

Though it’s marked as a Raid Drop - Boss Loot or Raid Trash Drop Raid Drop, the Robes of Ghostly Hatred aren’t on any loot table. They’re purchased from a vendor, for the cost of one Robes of Faltering Light (a boss drop from Sunwell Plateau) and one Sunmote.

There is an alternative chest with the same look, the Crafted Item Sunfire Robe, but it has a Tailoring (350) requirement to use.

What do you think? Worth a look, or are there better pieces you’d sub out instead? Let me know in the comments!
