Here’s the whole set on Wowhead.

Okay, so I was bored one day and typed “cat” into the Wowhead search box because, well, cats, and the  Quest Reward Cat Lover’s Vest popped up. I freaked out, obviously, because cats, and built a cloth transmog set around it. This has been a true story of transmogrification inspiration by me.

And yeah, the Cloudscorcher Handwraps are a little complicated, though are probably pretty ubiquitous to any player who’s spent any time on the Timeless Isle. Timeless Isle mobs and treasure chests drop the Bind-on-Account Timeless Cloth Gloves; using the gloves creates a Cloudscorcher Handwraps appropriate for your loot specialization.

And while we’re at it, if you’re unable to find World Drop - Includes Zone-Specific Drops Auction House - Click Here For Undermine Journal Aurora Pants on your Auction House, there are low-level lookalikes available as quest rewards for both factions. Wowhead has the details.

Okay, here’s an admission on my part. I freaking love the  Vanilla Raid Drop - Boss Loot or Raid Trash Drop Dragonstalker’s Breastplate.

Have you seen the full set? It’s what in the fashion world is generally described Hunter Tier 2 - Dragonstalker Armoras completely bananas. That’s right, the same tier that gave us Judgement awarded hunters the chance to dress as giant, spiky, purple butterflies.

It’s loud, it’s obnoxious, and, compared to the usual dull Hunter palettes of greens, browns, maroons, and greys, it’s actually kind of refreshing.

Not that I’d ever wear the whole set at once, god no.

Look, I’ll admit, sometimes I may skirt the edge of good taste, but there’s a line between “irreverent” and “clown college” and this sucker is 100% Grade-A clown college.

Still, I appreciate the vibrant colour and the butterfly shape in the chestpiece, so I decided to put together a toned-down mail transmog set for hunters looking for something a little different. It’s still bright, it’s still a little ridiculous, but if you’re looking to capture that old school Vanilla feel without making your eyes bleed, it’s worth a try.

You know, the Horde get a lot of love on this blog, which is understandable because the Horde is awesome, but I was talking to a guy yesterday and he mentioned there’s this whole other faction out there. Apparently they like, uh, lion motifs and the colour blue and, uh, their king looks a bit like Bruce Campbell? I don’t know. They seem cool.

So, to all you Alliance-heads out there. Uh, what do you call yourselves? Alliance-rs? Alliance-istas?

This one’s for you.

Literally, only for you. That belt is faction-locked.

Because #DeathKnightWeek Runs on DWT Time

Part of Lae’s Alt Appreciation series.

And the Devil Wears Transmog runs on Blizzard’s Tuesday maintenance schedule so, uh, I’m not late. For another five hours.

Prior the announcement of #DeathKnightWeek, I didn’t have a Death Knight. Well, that’s not true. I had lots of Death Knights, deleted, abandoned or dead on other servers. This is what happens when you’re the sort of person who regularly bumps up against the 50 character account limit.

But I wanted a Death Knight I’d actually play, so I sauntered over to one of my less populated servers and rolled Mortuary.

mortuary_pose

For all my love of transmog, I like the DK starting zone gear enough I’ll probably leave her like this ’til 90.

mortuary_landing

Likes: piña coladas, long walks on the beach, and posing dramatically in front of large, glowing objects.

mortuary_mount

A touching moment between mount and rider in the shadow of a Havenshire outhouse.

mortuary_lichking

He’s kind of cute. You know, for a twelve-foot tall force of pure evil.

But it wouldn’t be a Devil Wears Transmog post without some ill-conceived fashion suggestions, so away we go!

You’ll notice this round looks a little different. This time, I’ve turned to MogIt and, frankly, the results are great enough that I think I’ll be using MogIt exclusively from now on.

Okay, so an argument could be made that those boots don’t really work, but I don’t care. They’re gorgeous and look heavy enough to smash a man’s face in, both important qualities for any fashionable Death Knight. That said, none of these pieces are locked to a particular class or faction, so have fun!

Okay, so maybe this transmog isn’t breaking any new ground, but I think the blue in the belt with the blue in her eyes makes this a solid alternative to a Death Knight’s usual parade of skulls and spikes. Again, there’s nothing here that’s locked to a particular class, but those axes — in that color, anyway — are only available for Alliance players.

Next up, #DruidWeek! Bring on the… uh, worgen.

I swear I’m a Hordie. I swear.

And here I was, hoping to take a break from the class-specific sets for a while. No such luck, those gorgeous and confusingly turquoise-glowing purple shoulders are Druid-specific.

The rest of it, on the other hand, is up for grabs. I’m looking at you, surprisingly cool Vendor - Gold Arm Blade of Augelmir.
